ROOKE
John
Announcing the sad and sudden death of John Rooke, Squadron Leader (VR(T) retired) MBE, on 29th January.  John will be sadly missed by wife, Jane, and sons Graham and David.
John served his country completing national service in the late 1950s, and spent over 50 years volunteering for the Air Training Corps. He was awarded the MBE in 1996 for his commissioned service (Volunteer Reserve (Training)) with the Air Cadet organisation.
John was an avid sailor all his life though family boating activities and social memberships, and he competed in the 2000 Transatlantic Tall ships Race.  In recent years John was also very active within local amateur radio societies, taking his late father’s call-sign.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday 19th February at St Peter’s Chapel, the Exeter and Devon Crematorium, Topsham Road, at 12.30.  Please could attendees advise the family if they wish to attend the wake following the service.
Family flowers only, please.  Donations if you wish to John’s chosen charity, the Royal Air Forces Association by retiring collection or c/o
